Below is a step-by-step guide for adjusting the recording settings for the Camera and Microphone in Chrome. These steps also apply to the Chromebooks as they also use the Chrome browser. The example listed is for SeeSaw, but this would apply to any website that would need access to Camera & Microphone for recording.
Google Chrome
- When in SeeSaw, select the option to Record Video
- You will be prompted by the Google Chrome browser to allow access to the camera and microphone. Click Allow
- If the student clicked Block by accident, they will need to go into the Chrome Settings in order to unblock access to the Camera and Microphone.
- Select the three dots and click Settings from the Chrome menu
- Scroll down to the bottom of the Settings and click Advanced
- Scroll down in the Advanced menu and click Content Settings
- Click Camera
- Click the Trash icon next to where it shows SeeSaw as blocked
- Click the Back arrow
- Click Microphone
- Click the Trash icon next to where it shows SeeSaw as blocked
- Try recording again and make sure to click Allow when prompted for Chrome to access the microphone and camera.
- Select the three dots and click Settings from the Chrome menu
Safari
- When in SeeSaw, select the option to Record Video
- You will be prompted by the Safari browser to allow access to the camera and microphone. Click Allow
- If the student clicked Block by accident, they will need to go into the Safari Settings in order to unblock access to the Camera and Microphone.
- Select Preferences from the Safari menu
- Click on the Websites tab
- Click Camera from the left side of the screen
- Select the Deny dropdown menu and click Allow
- Click Microphone from the left side of the screen
- Select the Deny dropdown menu and click Allow
- Attempt to record again
- Select Preferences from the Safari menu
QuickTime
- Navigate into the Applications folder and launch QuickTime.
- Once QuickTime is open, select File > New Audio Recording
- Click the red Record button and begin speaking to record your voice
- Once finished speaking, click the Record button again to stop recording
- Select File > Save
- Give the recording a name and click Save
- This file can then be uploaded into SeeSaw
